INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK: YOUR LIMITATIONS

Inspirational Statement: “Your limitations will not limit you, if you don’t limit yourself.”

Definition of Key Word “Limitation”: Limitations are hindrances, constraints, restraints, drawbacks, inadequacies or barriers to your life aspirations. They are challenges that come our ways, when pursuing our life aspirations.

Examples of Limitations:

i.                    As Student; your limitation can be your difficult subject(s), a teacher, inadequate support for your education or health problem which hinder your studies.
ii.                  As Career professional; your limitations can be your difficult boss or difficult subordinates or even a task you find difficult to do.
iii.                As a couple(s) your limitation can be your difficult mother-in-law, your husband or wife or a particular challenge in the marriage.

With all these, to overcome your limitations you must look at your limitations as challenge not problem; identify the limitations or challenge to your aspirations: success in your education, fulfilment in your career or happy marriage; identify possible solutions, pursue the solution; and in pursuing the solutions, remain positive.

Case Study: I knew a student who because of broken home, was going to lose his educational aspirations, but with strong believe he was able to get support and completed University.

Conclusion: My friend, one thing you must not is this: there are challenges and there will be challenges to all our endeavors, but “Your limitations will not limit you, if you don’t limit yourself" Stay bless and #Keep Hope Alive Thank you and have a wonderful, wonderful week.

A GAME THAT NEVER WINS MEDAL

There is a game most people play which does not win a medal or help them achieve their goals. Do you know the game? The name of the game is: "Blame Game".

Some people are very good "Blame Game" players; they blame everybody for their predicaments without finding the cause and solution to their difficulties; I am not doing well in my studies, because of my teachers; my boss does not like me that is why he always find faults with my work; am not succeeding, because of my Untie; the devil is the cause of all my problems; you name the rest.

However, when going through challenges in any area of your life do not think of how to push blames to people and circumstances, find a way of solving your problems. If you are pursuing your goals with blame game attitude, success will elude you. Every problem has a solution and success oriented people find solution to their problems, they don't play blame games with their problems. Abraham Lincoln said:

“Always bear in mind that for your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other one thing.”

Those who succeed in their goals are not faithless people; they are people full of faith, personal believes and focus. Your personal attitude and focus will take you to the altitudes of your dreams. I believe all success first comes with personal believe in the dream, your attitude, determination, strength of character and focus. The devil may be the cause of your problem, but take note we are overcomers through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Whatever goals you have, believe in the goal, believe in your God given ability to succeed, and work hard with focus to achieve success. You will be able to break through the barriers to your goals and vision, if you have positive attitude, pray and trust in God. Note that you are a manifestation of what you think and belief in.

Find solutions to your challenges, avoid "Blame Game" it only distracts or retards your progress. #KeepHopeAlive never play blame game, it does not win medal. #KeepVisionInMotion there is solution to every problem. I wish you progress in everything you do and may you overcome every challenge to your vision and mission. You are an overcomer.

GHANA NEEDS RESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM

When the watchdog becomes like the dog; behaves and act like the dog, it will not be long the watchdog will lose its true value. When those who are to help bring out the truth, themselves become untruthful, then who fights for the venerable and the minority in society?

One institutions which helps promote democratic governance is the media; also known as the fourth estate of the realm. It is the duty of the media to inform, hold leadership accountable; protect the interest of the state and expose violations of the constitution, abuse of power and abuses of the individual rights by political leadership.

A journalist must be seen to be factual, truthful and do justice to all mankind through accurate reportage. With these all individuals can enjoy their rights, without fear of discrimination and possible abuse of their rights, no matter their origin, belief, political affiliation or non-affiliation. However, what we see in Ghana today is this: there are journalist who are ready to go to all length to malign innocent individuals, twist facts or tell blatant lies to suit their own whims and caprices and to satisfy their paymasters.

The most unfortunate is the "party journalists" who are ready to tell blatant lies and defend the undefinable just to make opponents to their “political masters” look bad. Hum, don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with a media house or a journalist believing in a political ideology. In the advanced democracies which we are trying to emulate, media houses endorse parties and presidential candidates, but with principle, applying the tenets of journalism, justice and fairness. For example, Fox News in the US mostly supports the Republican Party, but with principle; making sure they are accurate and putting the national interest first.

Nevertheless, what do we see in Ghana? Journalists and media houses are ready to fabricate or tell outright lies in the name of politics. They are ready to destroy the hard earned reputation of innocent citizens to satisfy their political colours. Worse of all, journalists are ready to paint the country black, telling stories as if nothing good happens in Ghana or as if Ghana is at war, which continue to affect our progress and economic performance due to speculations. Sometimes am thinking; do they know their lies and fabrications affect the image of our country?

What we must all note especially, journalists and media houses is that, when we succeed as a nation, we succeed together, when we fall, we fall together. Journalists must remember the Rwanda example, it took a radio broadcast to put that country on its knees for a long time. So journalists who are excited to say anything, because they have access to microphones, can write or have access to internet must be careful of how they portray our homeland Ghana.

The appeal is: be factual and truthful to sustain the peace and development of Ghana Our Beloved ountry. Remember when you throw a ball against a wall, it will come back to you. #IStandForGhana Remember truth builds a nation, but falsehood destroys the very foundations of nationhood. #IStandForNationalInterest

EDUCATION KEY TO ACHIEVING POTENTIALS: Guide Book for All African Students

This is a multi-purpose book for all African Students from Senior High Schools to Tertiary Institutions which focuses on education, career and personal development, with emphasis on seeking and applying knowledge. The book does not only guide, it also instructs, informs and inspires you to action; to pursue and achieve success in your education, career and personal development goals and aspirations.

Introduction

Two of the most important organs of the human body which control human activities are the brain and the heart. Desires of man come from the heart, but it takes the mind to facilitate all human activities and produce results; you need to think and apply the power of the mind to achieve success. As you think, you can apply all other body parts, including the heart and accomplish your desired goals and aspirations.

Therefore, the greatest achievements in life are the products of active and developed minds. We have the capacity to achieve greater heights in life, if we develop our minds to look within and beyond ourselves to seek knowledge. That is why I believe “The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste.” I believe one of the greatest things we must seek apart from God is education; seek knowledge and information in order to excel in all our life endeavours.

This is from the reasoning that, knowing God without education and knowledge, you cannot discover and achieve your full potentials. God has given us the power of the mind to think, pursue and accomplish whatever is in our abilities; interest and passion, but we can achieve all these, except through education and seeking knowledge. Even we can know God better, only by seeking knowledge of Him. Thus:

“Human development greatly depends on active, developed, focused and purposeful minds, and developed worlds are developed by developed minds; the capacity of a nation is the capacity of developed and resourceful minds. There would be no civilisation or progress of humanity without the application of developed, focused and resourceful minds.”

That is why, I think education and seeking knowledge is very, very important: and I am inspired to write this book, because of my desire to affect my world through knowledge promotion, by touching hearts and minds; and partly because of my experiences in education, career and personal development. Through my experiences, I believe if there is a single book which can help people achieve all these themes; education, career and personal development goals, with personal touch, sharing experiences with inspirations, it will be really useful.

Therefore, this is not only a guide book; it is also educative, informative and inspirational with emphasis on seeking and applying knowledge in one’s education, career and personal development process. It instructs, informs and inspires students to achieve their full potentials and succeed in their set goals and dreams in the three areas identified and other aspirations in life.

Life is shaped by the amount of information we have and all successes of man is driven by education, knowledge and personal attitude. As I alluded to earlier, this is not only a guide book; it is also educative, informative and inspirational with emphasis on seeking and applying knowledge. This is a book which is stocked with a world of knowledge; information and diverse ideas, which will guide, educate, inform and inspire students for excellence.

Mr Raymond Doe; Human Development Expert who forwards the book agrees with the author that if students make this book their companion, they will overcome challenges to their studies and achieve their education, career and personal development goals par-excellence.

Students always need to remember these: “Education is Key to Achieving Your Potentials and Career Goals and that: The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste. The brain is the powerhouse of knowledge, if you waste your mind, you waste your life and purpose.” The writer wishes students all the best in the pursuance of their academic, career and personal development goals; as they acquire, read and apply the concepts in the book. Thank you for following.

We are looking for distributors of this Book for all African students. To be a distributor, call us for discussions: The distribution commission is very attractive. Contacts: Call: 233:0243538726/. WhatsApp: 0206997493/0549772096. Email: combelgh@gmail.com.

DEMOCRACY ON THE BALANCE

Democracy works with strong effective institutions and laws. Without strong institutions and affective laws, the lead only promote their own whims and caprices.

Very important for democratic governance are the institutions such as the three arms of government; executive, legislature and judiciary, independent strong and unbiased media including currently social media, independent electoral commission and political parties. We also need strong security agencies, the police and other armed forces to keep the peace.

Additionally strong civil society organizations such as nongovernmental organizations, tin tanks, pressure groups and even individuals like you and I, must work to put governmental institutions on their toes. We must be objective with our analysis and work to promote the national interest ahead of group and individual interests.

What must be at the back of our minds is that; strong governmental institutions and strong civil society organizations make strong democracy. Thus, for governmental institutions to work effectively, we need constructive criticism of their work. When we talk about criticism, it does not mean condemning everything done by a person or an institution. Constructive criticism is evaluative; analyzing the work done, appreciating what is done well and pointing out what needs to be improved or amended. We must give credit where credit is due.

Let's not try to throw the baby away with the bath water; by writing off everything done by our institutions and officials. As we go into this election, we must allow the institutions to work. If you have any reservation about any of their actions, let's bring it to their attention without personal attacks. You can also apply to the law for redress, if you think it can help make their work effective. Let's be careful about lies and name calling, these are vices against democratic governance.

We all need to work together for the smooth running of our country. In this election whoever wins needs all the institutions, both governmental and nongovernmental to work effectively. Let all come together to build strong institutions which will work for us. There is more to come #IStandForGhana I stand for effective strong institutions. #IStandForNationalInterest

UNITED WE STAND STAND AS A NATION-STATE

When you sow seeds of division, you reap fruits of division; and when you sow seeds of unity, you reap fruits of unity. A strong nation-state strives on the strengths of its diversities, not democratization of divisions called in Political Science parlance Divide and Rule.

From the records since pre-independence days, the Gold Coast and the protectorates had been faced with challenges of how to unite the diverse ethnic groups into one nation state. Through the concerted efforts of Dr Kwame Nkrumah the divisions were mended to form the nation state call Ghana. However, after the first coup the forces of division raised their ugly heads.

Since 1992 as a young adult in Secondary School, I follow the democratization process of my country Ghana. With my privilege of studying Political Science in the University, I listened to arguments of some of my Lectures trying to justify why a particular political party will win the elections; especially prior to the 2004 elections, with divisive tribalistic arguments. Some even took cosmopolitan areas like Accra, segment them into density of tribes to make conclusions on why they thought a particular political party would win a constituency and the presidential ballots.

Unfortunately this methodology which I call “Little Minds Divisive Analogy” permeates media analysis today and political parties are feeding on it, if not perpetuating it. In fact, my little advice to those who think they can divide Ghana and through division they can maintain themselves in power or wrestle power should change the strategy. Because what divided us at independence which politicians of those days took advantage of are weaker now than before.

Two of them worth mentioning. First, some political groupings at independence took advantage of tribal divisions, but now Ghanaians are more integrated through inter marriages which make us related to each other than before. Secondly, illiteracy of electorates was taken advantage of, but now many Ghanaians are much educated intellectually and politically. Today even people from one family belong to two or more political parties, and there are voters we now call “swing voters”, which attests to political education and knowledge of the country. And this is the thing; no political party can win power in Ghana with divisive tendencies.

From evaluations no political party can cross 48.5% with its so call “divisive support base”. It will take the personality of a leader who promotes or is seeing promoting a united front of Ghana to win 50+1% at the polls. This fact can be seen since 2000 elections. My candid advice is: political parties should duel on policy and program strategies, and critics of each other's policies, rather than dividing the population on tribal lines to win elections. Because, it is worrying the kind of ethnocentric internal memos parties are distributing, which are very divisive and insult to decent minds.

Parties should note that they will find it difficult to govern a divided nation state, and what is currently happening in USA should be a lesson to us. United we stand, divided we fall. We must all note that, what units us as a nation state is stronger than what divided us at independence. We are strong together than divided.  #IStandForGhana I stand for a united strong Ghana. #IStandForNationalInterest
