THE MIND SETS YOUR LIFE

The eye sees, the mind sees.
The eye sees the visuals,
It sees and informs the mind.
The mind keeps the visuals;
Visuals out of sight, not out of mind.

The ear hears, the mind hears.
The ear hears the sounds,
It hears and informs the mind.
The mind keeps the sounds;
Sounds out of ear, not out of mind.

The nose smells, the mind smells.
The nose smells the scents,
It smells and informs the mind.
The mind keeps the scents;
Scents out of nose, not out of mind.

The tongue tastes, the mind tastes.
The tongue tastes the testables,
It tastes and informs the mind.
The mind keeps the tastes;
Tastes out of tongue, not out of mind.

The skin feels, the mind feels.
The skin feels the feelings,
It feels and informs the mind.
The mind keeps the sensations;
Feeling out of body, not out of mind.

The mind has the records of your life activities.
The mind keeps the activities of the senses,
It also has power to digest your life activities.
The mind has power to instruct your life;
But the direction depends on how you tune your mind.

The mindset you have sets your life agenda.
Your negative mindset, sets your way of life,
Your positive mindset, sets your way of life.
Therefore, how you think that’s how you are;
Your mindset sets your possibilities and way of life.

IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION TO THE INDIVIDUAL, SOCIETY AND NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT 25TH JUNE, 2017

The programme started with overview of the precious discussion. The previous discussion was about what education and the overview of the “Educational Digest” programme. In our discussion we noted that education can be looked at from the broad and technical point of view:

·   Broad base Definition: Education in the broad sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on: The Mind; Character; and Physical ability of an individual.

·   Education from the technical point of view is the process by which society intentionally passes on its accumulated: Knowledge; Skills; and Values from one generation to another.

The evening’s programme was of the importance of education. Education is one of the most basic needs of man and very important for potential, career, personality and national development. From our discussions, education is very important to the individual, family, society and national development. The following are some of the key points noted:

1. Importance of Education to the individual

· Education exposes us to a world of knowledge and how to apply this knowledge to our personal development.
· Education is an opportunity for an individual to discover his/her potentials and develop them; our talents are discovered through education.
· Education helps the individual to develop his/her potentials, accomplish life aspirations and become an outstanding individual among peers.
·   Education serves as the means of developing oneself mentally, physically and socially; your mental ability, physical appearance and social relationships are enhanced by education.
·    Education serves as a means to bring about desired changes in the individual, develop a generation of virtuous individuals and contribute to the development of morally upright and responsible individuals.

2.      Importance of Education to the family

· Education helps promote development of the family; through education, individuals acquire knowledge and affect their families positively; the status of most families is enhanced through the education of its members.
·    Education helps families develop exceptional social status which makes them prominent; it makes people respect and honour them; it brings honour and dignity to families apart from royalties.
· Education minimise ranchos and fight over limited family properties by most members; with education, individuals work to acquire their own property, rather than fighting over limited family inheritance.
·  Education of the individual helps families live the right legacies for their members. Some families are known and respected for producing great intellectuals, writers, legal brains, doctors, inventors and leaders due to their education; this also motivates most of the younger generations of the family to strive for better heights.
· Education eradicates ignorance, disease and poverty in families; when family members are educated, it goes a long way to affect their levels of thinking and ways of doing things.

3.      Importance of Education to National Development?

· Countries are developed through education and promotion of knowledge. The development of human resource, among other things, put them ahead of other nations.
· Nations derive national power and competitiveness through education and promotion of ideas; education promotes ideological orientation of countries which make them dominate other nations.
· Education promotes visionary leadership and human advancement. Many leaders contribute immensely to the progress of their nations by applying their education and knowledge of human dignity, development and freedom.
· Education promotes advancement which contributes to national and human development. John Lock and some political philosophers believe that man was “in a state of nature and society was established by contract.”
· Education and scientific researches help nations solve health problems such as diseases. Through research a cure was found for diseases like malaria, polio and six childhood killer diseases. Many countries minimize infant mortality rates through health education.

Very important in our discussion was a statement by the former president of USA. Barack Obama noted that:

·         With education we acquire knowledge and problem-solving skills to develop new energy technologies and protect the environment.
·         We need education to get insights, critical thinking skills, to fight poverty, crime, homelessness, discrimination and make the nation fairer and freer.
·         Education enhances our creativity and ingenuity to create new job opportunities to boost our economy.

We need education to develop our talents; our intellect and skills, so we can help solve the most difficult problems of the nation. Supriya Sharma said that “education is the key that will open the doors of opportunities for individuals to achieve what they aspire. It is not just learning about books. It is also learning about life.”

We express gratitude to our interviewees, Priscilla Ocloo, Razak Abbas, Mr Fred Glover and Madam Stella Asare for their views and those who called into the programme; Judith and Aggie for their thoughts.

Have a date with me on the next program, 2nd July, 2017, 8pm to 9pm. Our Topic for the next discussion is “Stakeholders in Education and their Responsibilities” Thank you for, God bless you. INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK: YOU CAN CONQUER YOUR WORLD, IF....

Statement: “You can conquer your world, if you can conquer your fears.”

Key Words to consider: “Conquer” and “Fears”:

To conquer means: to overcome, to surmount, to defeat, triumph or win over a situation or somebody. An army in battle is said to conquer or win over its enemy, it defeats enemy. A football team can be said to conquer or defeat its opponent, if it scores the opponent. Similarly; a student in a competition can be said to triumph, if he/she wins the competition.

To fear means:  to be afraid, to be frighten, feel horror, to panic, to be scared or to be terrified. Thus, to fear means being afraid of something, situation or somebody.

Now the question to ask is, what are people afraid of which can prevent them from conquering their world of possibilities or achieving their dreams? Or let me be personal, what are you afraid of?

1.       Some students are afraid of a subject or a course of study, that they cannot move forward is their academic pursuits or afraid of a lecturer, because of that, they cannot pursue their dream course or profession. If a student cannot conquer fear of failure he/she cannot achieve academic/professional goals.
2.       Some people both men and women fear getting into new relationships, because of disappointment, a lady might be disappointed by a guy, for that matter, she is not ready to enter a new relationship; thus his/her fear is “disappointment”. If a lady or guy cannot overcome fear of disappointment they cannot have successful relationship.
3.       Some job seekers fear interviews, that they fear going to seek a job, they think interview is too challenging; can you imagine passing an interview, if you are afraid? Thus some unemployed youths cannot “standing on their feet to speak interviewer and pass because of fear of panel.

Case in point

In the University I was very much interested in “Foreign policy” and I had the desire to write my Long Essay in Foreign Policy analysis. But, in the Political Science department at the time, there was a Lecturer who most students were afraid of taking his Courses who was teaching Foreign Policy. When I submitted my proposal for the research, I was put under him as my supervisor, and I accepted the challenge. With focus and determination, at the end of the research, he gave me an ‘A’ which helped to have very good class. The question is, if I was afraid like most student were, would I be able to do the research under him?

Conclusion

Most of the time we are afraid of the unknown that we give up on our dreams and aspirations. However, note: “You can conquer your world, if you can conquer your fears.” You cannot achieve your life goals, if you are afraid of somebody or a situation. Stay bless and “Keep Hope Alive” never be afraid. Remember “Your limitations will not limit you, if you don’t limit yourself.” Conquer your fears and you will conquer your world.  Thank you, and have a wonderful week.

BEARING GRUDGE IS SELF–DISTRACTION

Bearing grudge is self-distraction. Humm you need to read this, it may be a cure to a problem or a disease you have.

Never bear grudge, it is self-distraction. You might be offended by a friend, a colleague or a boss. However do you know your offender doesn't mostly worry about how you feel, especially those intentional?

The simple solution the Bible provides for settling disputes is when there is a case between you and somebody:

i. Go to the person to resolve it; if it fails;
ii. Go with a friend to settle it, if it fails;
iii. Call the person before elders, if it fails,
iv. Consider the person an unbeliever.

After this process, never worry your heart or mind about it. If you do, you'll trouble yourself about somebody who doesn't care about you, and distract your life purpose and dreams.

Mind you, the very moment you are thinking about grudges, your world of purpose and focus is at stand still, nothing happens. You only think about hates and your mind troubles you.
At that moment the trouble causer might not even be thinking about you. Isn't that true?

So my friend, free your mind of grudges, don't harm yourself with hatred, it will cause you self-induced diseases and ailments. Free your heart, keep focus, #KeepHopeAlive never allowed anybody to trouble you, and don't trouble yourself with grudges. Stay strong, stay focus, you are bless. Cheers, Cheer up!!! #KeepVisionInMotion

TO ME, YOU ARE SPECIAL

If you can reflect on life and your generation, you can appreciate how special you are. As my audience, you are truly special to me and you are a blessing to me. Take note, every messenger sends or shares the message with people. He needs people who believe in the message and help fulfill his assignment.

As a fact, every message without audience is just an imagination. So please you are special to me and you are my sources of the blessings am counting. I love you all! Remember, those around you are very important; never take any one of them for granted.

There is one message in my mind I want to share today. Thus: "You are Special". In Jeremiah 1:5 God told Jeremiah. "Before I formed you... I know you". Take note that, before you are conceived in your mother's womb, God knows and purposed you for a reason.

One other dimension I want us to look at is “Why are you born in this generation." Why is it that you were not born in the 17th or 18th century?" This is the answer: You are born in this time, because you are needed in this generation. You are needed in your family, society and nation at this appointed time.

So count yourself important for this generation. Take steps to discover yourself, your purpose and take one step at a time, to affect your desired purpose.

Note: every problem you are dissatisfied with today, know that you are a solution to it, in one way or the other; you can do something about it. Refuse to join "The Blame Game" musicians/singers. You are a purpose, be purposeful.

You and I are special for this generation. You are for a purpose, am for a purpose. Keep track of your purpose, never lose hope, #KeepHopeAlive#KeepVIM victory is assured. Have a wonderful, wonderful day always. #KeepSmilling its good for your health, hahahahaha...

THIS LIFE IS BY GRACE

My life is by Grace.
If I think about my life,
It is by the grace of God.
If I think about my life provisions,
It is just by God's unfailing grace.
In fact, all my life I say is by Grace.

Your life is by Grace.
If you think about your life,
It is by the grace of God.
If you reflect on your life provisions,
It is truly by God's unlimited grace.
In fact, all your life am sure is by Grace.

Our lives are by Grace.
If we think about our daily lives,
They are all by the grace of God.
If we consider all our live provisions,
It is undeniably by God's loving grace.
As a matter of fact, our lives are by Grace.

PREMIER TOPIC DISCUSSED: OVERVIEW OF EDUCATION AND THE PURPOSE OF “EDUCATIONAL DIGEST” 18TH JUNE, 2017.

The first discussion on the program focused on what is education, and the purpose of the programme. From the discussions we looked at education from the broad base and technical point of view:

i.      Broad base definition: Education in the broad sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on: The Mind; Character; and Physical ability of an individual.

In the broad sense, when education takes place, it must affect: how you think, your behaviour or moral values and physical ability to work. From this perspective, education shapes our cognitive ability, mindset, character and potentials.

ii.   Education from the Technical point of view: is the process by which society intentionally passes on its accumulated: Knowledge; Skills; and Values from one generation to another.

With the technical meaning, education takes place when there is conscious effort by society to transfer knowledge, information, skills and values of society to learners.

From both the broad and technical definitions, education is the process whereby there is transfer of knowledge which affects how we think, our personal skills, physical abilities and value systems. Education is meant to enhance our total being; help us develop our talents; do things in a better way by applying the knowledge and skills acquired; to achieve our potentials and career goals; and to fit well into society.

According to one scholar; William Feather, “Education is being able to differentiate between, what you do know and what you do not know.  It is knowing where to go to, find out what you need to know; and it is knowing how to use the information once you get it.”

From his point of view, when learning, you must be able to identify what you do know, and what you do not know. Know where to get information about what you do not know, find the information, learn to understand and apply the knowledge, once you get it. Therefore an ignorant person is not somebody who did not know, but a person who does not know, but refuses to seek and apply knowledge.

We also looked at Categories of Learning

Categories of learning talks about the kind of things we learn, the amount of knowledge we acquire
and how we interpret knowledge. These can be in five main categories:

·         Learning as increase in what you know or an amount of knowledge you acquire. It is acquiring a lot of information or ‘knowing a lot of things’.
·         Learning as memorizing. Learning as storing of information that can be reproduced. Memorizing; storing information in your memory and be able to retrieve it.
·         Learning as acquiring facts, skill, and methods of doing things. Facts are things which actually happened or are the truth.
·         Learning as making sense or abstracting meaning; this involves relating parts of a subject matter to each other and to the real world.
·         Learning as understanding and interpreting reality in different ways. This involves understanding the world by reinterpreting or explaining knowledge (Ramsden 1992).

The purpose of purpose of the program was finally review and the way forward:

Thus, "Educational Digest" is tailored to discuss and sensitise audience on various subjects on
education, and learning, educational stakeholders, education and career development, education, potentials development and national development. The following are just a few areas which will be dealt with.

§  Education, Career and Personal Development: This centres on how to pursue education, career,
potentials; talent and personality development goals to achieve once purpose in life.

The programme is in a form of a talk show which will discuss, guide, inform, motivate and inspire listeners to achieve their vision and mission. We also plan to have school visitations and breakfast meetings with educational stakeholders. The programme is targeted at all segments of society to upgrade knowledge, skills, inspire and affect society.

The discussion was concluded with a quote from a book by the Host (Katamani M.A, 2017): “Education Key to Achieving Your Potential And Career Goals”:

“Everybody has the ability to do something great and affect his/her generation positively. Yet, without education, knowledge, information, wisdom and understanding, you will pass through the world, with almost all your potentials cork up in you, without much positive effect on your generation.”

Have a date with me on the next program, 25th June, 2017, 8pm. Thank you Shalom, God bless you. KAMBEL: #WeAnchorYourVisionAndMission. LITTLE THINGS

Every life relationship is very important. But do you know what makes your life so important to your next door neighbour; do you know what makes your life so admirable to somebody who admires you so much? It may be your little magnanimity shown in times of disagreement and sympathy to people in pain.

It might be your simple way of saying am sorry for the harm you have caused your neighbour, the little sympathy you have shown to your neighbour in a serious pain; or the little helping hand extended to somebody who falls down and you held his/her to rise up. In fact sometimes, it takes very little things to create or re-candle relationships.

Everybody needs somebody, especially in times of pain and grief. Your little, am sorry can regain lost relationship; your olive hands re-candle lost relationships; your little sympathy can live indelible marks on the hearts of people in pain and grief; and your helping hand in little things can create strong bonds of friendship.

Today I appeal to you, to note this, your little magnanimity is much important. Keep doing good, but note that your remorse and sympathy, they are very, very important tools for building and maintaining relationship. And wherever or whenever somebody has shown such magnanimity let's welcome it and learn to move forward. I wish you a wonderful day. Let's reflect on this. You are bless. #VisionInMotion#KeepHopeAliv

DEMOCRATIC POLITICS IS BY CHOICE

Democratic politics is by choice; a choice by the people, for the people and of the people. Making a choice among people or persons you can will your power to, for a period of time to govern with your consent.

From independence, Ghana had gone through different forms of government; some democratic and some military dictatorial rule. Thank God since 1992, we have resolved permanently; I believe to take the democratic path, and had had six successful elections, with the seventh before us.

For me, there are two choices before us on 7th December; choice for continuity or choices for change of government for an opposition party; a government in waiting to take the mantle from the ruling government. Which one are you going for; continuity or change? The choice is yours.

Remember making a choice does not call for insults, making a choice does not call for division, blood shared or war. Democracy calls for intelligent argument for the party you believe has the right policy; and your ability to convince electorates to vote for your policies and programs.

The beauty of democratic game is: agree to disagree. If you disagree with me, you are not my enemy; and if I disagree with you, don't look at me as your enemy. In fact this is the greatest virtue and mindset everybody who believes in democracy must have: agree to disagree.

Let's all listen to the parties and make our choices. Your vote is your power. There is more to come. #KambelGhanaForPeace#LongLiveGhana

AFTER THE BALLOT BOX

Knowledge abounds in the world, but ignorance permeates society, seek knowledge and let wisdom be your friend. Knowledge is information acquired, but wisdom is your ability to discern or the grace to think through accessible knowledge to take the right decisions.

One organization that drives democracy is political party. Simply put, a political party is a group of people who aim to influence, context, capture or maintain power to govern on behalf of citizens. A party in power desires to maintain itself in power to continue with its policy and programs with a new leader or supporting the leader already ruling. However, a party or parties in opposition make efforts to influence power by bring to the fore, the shortcomings of the governing party and leader, and put forward alternative workable policies and programs which it will implement when voted into power.

At the core of every political party is leadership; and for every political party to stand either in power or in opposition, it will depend on a dynamic strong leadership. A political party needs dynamic strong leadership, because every party has or experiences factionalism and a dynamic strong leader or leadership will be able to effectively build bridges and mend difference to achieve the party’s goals and pursue the national interest.

The questions I would like you to adduce your mind to, as we go into the pulling booth to cast our ballots on December 7th are: Which party is able to put forward well thought through policy or alternative policies which will promote the interest of Ghana, be it infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, energy, social interventions and what you? Which political party portray or is seen portraying unity of purpose internally and externally? Remember a divided house, for that matter political party cannot stand and by extension build a united nation state.

Which presidential candidate is more tolerant and dynamic enough to bring us together as a nation state? Remember there are some leaders who say one thing and do adversely. The examples are around as to see, both in Ghana and in other African countries. Note: a leader who cannot handle power and authority of a party, if you give the power and authority of the country to him/her will divide and abuse us all.

Finally, which party and presidential candidate see us as "we the people" and not "we and them" or "we and you". I want to emphasize that no party can rule effectively and bring development to all sectors, region and district, if they cannot see us as "we the people." Sometimes, remember they may do something, but might be only for representative purposes.

Let's be careful to listen to all political parties, their policies and programs for the development of the nation, but most especially the leader and leadership or the presidential candidate who when voted into power will lead us for the next four years and bring his leadership style to bear on as all.

#KambelGhanaForPeace #IStandForGhana I stand for dynamic strong leadership and a unifier. There is more to come. God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong.
